Wreckless

Wreckless is obviously a play on words, and for good reason. Many of us are walking through this life desiring to do or be something great. This is not an unworthy pursuit. Better to go for it than to be got by it, better to apprehend than to be apprehended. We have one shot at the life we are given and we need to make the most of it. The question to ask is, "Do I want to live this life with "reckless" abandon or "wreckless" abandon?" To be reckless is to be utterly unconcerned about the consequences of some action, to do things without caution to be careless. Marinate in that definition for a minute. Come on, are we really wanting to live a careless life, a life unconcerned about consequences to our actions. Is this the utopian bliss we crave. Think about it. If we all did this, gave in to our base desires with utter disregard as to how it would affect others around us, you and I both know chaos would ensue. Imagine the driver of a vehicle unconcerned and not caring whether the light was green or red, the drunk driver getting behind the wheel? What happens? You and I both know the answer. A wreck or many wrecks happen. How many stories have you heard with these same scenarios? How many wrecks have you seen or even been in? Time nor your tolerance of the written word would permit for alot of examples about reckless attitudes and actions. Notice in the definition stated previously that reckless is unconcerned about consequences presupposing that irregardless of what is done, there will be consequences. When I mention wreckless, I don't mean that there won't be obstacles or even accidents along the road of life. I am just saying that we can take precaution without relinquishing the joy that comes from living life to its fullest and enjoying the benefits afforded on this side of eternity. Heres an awesome quote and life lesson: "...if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care-- then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don't push your way to the front; don't sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand. (Php 2:1-4) I just thought I would hit you with this in order for us to give us something to think about. Let us not live recklessly but wrecklessly so we we can wreck-less. Marinate. PD

Fearless

Hey Beloved,

I pray all finds you well. As I spent time with the Lord this morning I felt the Lord directing me to something that would very radical for us. I know this comes at the very last minute but I sense a strong urgency from the Lord. He first took me to Numbers 20:1-12 and all I could do was lay before and weep. I had to confess and repent. I have mentioned before that when we place our hope in man and man does not come through, our tendency is to become disappointed, disgusted, disillusioned, distressed and bitter. If I can be real for a minute, this is also happens when we place our hope and trust in our own abilities. For too long we have looked at our lack of instead of instead of His provision for. We have shifted blame from ourselves to others and from others to ourselves. This has kept us in the wilderness and going around the same mountain. It is time to come out and possess the promises and provision. After this rebuke from the Lord, He took me to Joel. I have read Joel many times before, but today was a Rhema experience as I read. There is so much in this short book that time will not permit in this brief letter to extrapolate. The verse among many that stood out was Joel 1:14 “Announce a time of fasting; call the people together for a solemn meeting. Bring the leaders and all the people of the land into the Temple of the LORD your God, and cry out to Him there.” So without belaboring the point I want to encourage all of you and whomever will come, to fast a meal or two today and join us this evening beginning at 6:30pm for a time of prayer as we seek and wait upon the Lord. I know this disrupts many plans you may have for this evening, but I believe in the urgency of this. I don’t know what area of life you are needing a break in, break out or breakthrough but lets stop talking about it and pursue it with relentless passion. Check The Flow

If, as a believer, rivers of "living" water shall "flow" out of our bellies which is our source. Then wouldn't it be fair to say that the fear and discouragement that we so often spill upon our lives and those around us is not so much the problem as is the source that they come from. Lets make a commitment not to pollute our source. (marinate)

Can't Go Back There

The other day I was waking with my son down by the creek at our home. and he noticed a snakeskin caught on a branch in the water of course he could not resist (what little boy could resist the opportunity) to pick it up. As we made our way through the raging torrent of 2 inch deep water we retrieved the prize. My son examined the skin with wonder and asked the question, "Dad, do you think the snake will come back for his skin?" Now of course at this moment I was ready to give my son a complete dissertation (speech) on the dynamics of "Ecdysis", but instead found myself quickly saying the words "Nope, he wouldn't want to." My son was content with the answer, but of course myself being a "preacherman" always on the lookout for new "stuff", marinated on our exchange. It came to mind what Paul said in his letter to the Ephesian Church, "put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness." Eph 4:22-24
Simply put, as a christian why would we want to go back to that old skin that doesn't even fit anymore? If a snke knows this, how much more should we catch hold of, live and press on in the new skin we're in. (marinante)

Twisted Scripture

Here another quick hit for you. 2Corinthians 5:17 is a very familiar passage to most and we use it many times sharing with others peaple who have come to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Well, I just want to hit you with this:

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. "

Lets change that up a little bit: "Therefore, if any day is in Christ, it is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all days have become new. "

Some may think this is violating scripture but the reality is this, If Jesus Christ is truly Lord of our lives shouldn't all of our days be submitted to Him? (Marinate)

Check this one out: "Therefore, if any marriage is in Christ, it is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. "

Getting it yet? We seriously need to stop sweating the past and worrying about the future. He's got it. It may not feel like it, and this is not to minimize the drama your going through right now but truth is truth. Check out the Bible. Our issues...He can handle it.

This Should Rock Your Paradigm

What do you think about when it comes to giving? Giving of your time, talents, touch, treasure or testimony? Are we content with the 10%, 20% or dare I say 30%. Are we satisfied, full content, can we live with that and not disrupt the comfort of complacency we have allowed ourselves walk in with oblivious satisfaction? (I know thats a mouthful). Have we really been trusting God to provide for us? Here's a little nugget that rocked my world. Its from a book i've been reading called "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan. "We like finding refuge in what we already have rather than what we hope God will provide." Selah (marinate in that for a bit).
